Why they keep using heat shrink on headphone connector iPhone 3G

Youd think that they had enough feedback already to know that eventually the head shrink breaks off and thats the start of the pulling of the wires away from the connector. Im on at least my 5th pair of headphones that have this problem and I think its wrong for Apple to not make any effort to do this better.

You expect fellow users to do what or help you with what exactly?
Ive had my USB cable replaced/exchanged under warranty exactly once, and the exchange seems to be holding up much better for me with no visual problems.

Just so its clear Im talking about the headphone cable not the USB cable.
Has anybody had their headphones replaced because of the heat shrink issue then?
I mean its been like this since iphone 1st and ipods long before that. I can remember the connector on the original ipod 5g being more durable but since then theyve used this head shrink approach.

As a company thats out to make money, youve got to admit that its a pretty ingenious plan: The end user buys abig item every couple of years, but keeps giving you money to replace the low-cost peripheral to it.
After all, its worked on your four times.

I havent had any issues with my headphones in the 8 months Ive had the 3G iPhone. If youve gone through 5 pair, you may want to look at how you unplug the headphones from the jack.
