Voice messages quit working how I get them working iPhone 3G

I updated my iPhone 3G and made some changes in the APPs. The next time I missed a call and someone left a message I could not listen to it. The phone ask for a password for the messages. I tried to use my iTunes password, but could not type it in, because all I got for a keypad was a numbers keypad like the dial keypad.
If it is wanting a different password I dont know what it might be. I have all of my passwords written down and my list does not have a password for voice mail. If I had one I must have forgot to write it down.
Any Suggestions?

Are you in the US? If so, press & hold the 1 key on your phone keypad and follow the prompts to reset your voicemail password(default is usually the last 4 digits of your phone number), or dial 611 and have a CSR reset it for you. If outside the US, contact your carrier to reset your voicemail password.
