video thumbnails not appearing after update iPhone

ever since i updated my iphone4 to the last update(4.2.1) the thumbnails for all videos that i have and have since added do not appear. I thought maybe the most recent updt(4.3) would have solved this but it has not. the videos play fine but no thumbnails for them. the video thumbnails have always appeared on every iphone that ive had until update 4.2.1. What is the problem???
