Unable to send pictures in message iPhone

Ok, I have no problems getting pics in my messages from other people. However my Iphone 3GS will not send pictures in a text message. I can send them via email with no problems.
I have 4.1 on my phone now and will update to 4.2 in a bit. Ive tried turning my phone off for a while during the day in hopes it would reset and work. I was told this may help.
Any help would be appreciated., Thanks

The update should fix the issue. If it doesnt reset the device. Press and Sleep/Wake and the Home button for about 10 seconds (ignore the option to turn off the device).
