Unable to restore-Error 28 and Error 9 iPhone 3G

Hey everyone,
I have been having some issues with my iPhone 3GS (up-to-date/no Jailbrake) for the past two weeks, a lot of random crashes (usually resolved by soft reset, although it would always take a while for it to get past the silver logo stage).
Tonight my phone suffered another crash and this one seems to be pretty fatal - I have tried to restore for about 20 times and keep getting Error 28 and Error 9 (hardware-related?).
I experienced similar problems in the past, even while still under warranty (expired in February), but Apple claimed to have performed full diagnostics and that everything was OK...
Does anyone have any piece of advice on what to do?
