Unable to readd Roadrunner account to iPhone4

I removed my roadrunner account from my iPhone (long story) and when I went to reinstall it cannot verify the account. Comes back and asks if I want to use SSL. I have validated I am using the correct email address and password.
Under settings mail/Contacts etc I select Add Account. I put my name in, then my email address, then password and the description autofills.
I hit next and it still says New Account and lists the pop-server and smtp-server. I hit Save and it clocks on verifying for a while and a message comes up saying Cannot Connect Using SSL. Do you want to try setting the account up without SSL? I have tried using yes and no to no avail. Ive tried adding the username and password to the smtp-server section.
Ive tried changing the server names to mail.columbus.rr.com and webmail.columbus.rr.com. I cant do anything about the port numbers as I cant save the account to begin with.
I would appreciate help.
