Touch screen becomes unresponsive when typing long text messages iPhone 3G

When ever I am typing out long text messages after a while my keyboard doesnt pick up all the touches. It happened when I was running 4.2.1, and all the 4.3 betas. Im currently running the 4.3GM seed (Im a developer). This phone came with 4.2.1 so I dont know how it worked on other software versions. Its a replacement iPhone i got in January. Is this a hardware problem worthy of a replacement?
