Hi,
I have an officially unlocked 3GS running 4.0.1. on Excelcomindo Indonesia.
With all the complaints on the net about the missing tethering from 3G after upgrading to 4.2.1, I become hesitated whether or not to upgrade my 3GS.
Anyone has a thought on this or share something to me?

While the iPhone supports tethering, whether the option to tether appears in settings or not is determined by the carrier file on your phone. If your carrier offers tethering, the option to tether will appear in settings. If your carrier does not offer tethering, the option to tether will not appear. This has nothing to do with the OS on your phone, but everything to do with the carrier file on your phone & whether or not your carrier offers tethering.

But it happened on my previous 3G.
The tethering works fine in 4.1 but disappeared right after upgrading to 4.2.1.
of course using the same network operator.
Now I have sold my 3G, and there is my 3GS left with 4.0.1.
So I think it does have something to do with the iOS upgrade.
