Suddenly cannot move messages to other folders iPhone

Suddenly, today (without any recent changes in software, hardware, or settings), when trying to delete a Mail message, I receive an error message stating Unable to Move Message--The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash. When I try to move it (or any mail) to any folder, I receive the same error message. Im using the old iPhone 3G with iOS 4.2.1.
Suggestions? Thanks!
