Setup Mail Gmail iPhone

Hello, I just got a old PowerBook g4 running Panther, and Id like to setup gmail in my Mail. I believe Im running mail 1.(maybe 3)? Anyway, I type in all my info, and then in incoming mail server pop.gmail.com and say the server is pop and it still says it cant find it. Also, pop is enabled in my gmail. Thanks so much.
