Remote application stopped working . iPhone

ok, this is weird. I had the remote app running on my iPhone 3GS, able to access both iTunes libraries on my iMac and my Macbook Pro. Used it for about a week, then when I tried it again this morning, it wont connect to my iMac iTunes library anymore. The only thing that has changed is that I upgraded to iTunes 9.1 and checked the option to compress the audio files on my iphone.
I checked to make sure the option to detect remotes was still enabled. I tried unchecking it, rechecking it. The computer has been restarted multiple times. The iphone remote just doesnt show up as a device in iTunes. But here is the real kicker - I just tried it tonight on my Macbook Pro and lo and behold, it connects. Everybody is on the same wireless network, so Im ruling out any network issues. It cant be a distance or signal strength issue, as I had the iPhone right next to the wireless router (and the iMac).
Im stumped - any one else have the same problem?
