Receiving page from home phone. iPhone 3G

Reply Topic My new alarm system is supposed to call my cell phone whenever the alarm is tripped. However, I think its really trying to send me a page, at least the equipment manual says it is set up to send a message to a pager, not a phone. How can I get my iPhone to work as a pager?
