Pin Connector at Bottom iPhone 3G

This morning when I plugged in my iPhone 3G to get it to sync in iTunes, I noticed that the Pin Connector wouldnt go in all the way. I tried the connector on a different iPod and it worked fine, so I know it is the internal piece inside the phone. I can still charge the phone and sync it in iTunes but it can come out very easily and it is almost in on a slant. If I take it to an Apple Store, would they be able to just replace the PIN connector at the bottom and keep the rest of the phone? For me, it is too much of a hassle to exchange the phone since I have almost filled the entire thing and have everything in the right order. I know I can restore from backup but... well I just kind of have grown fond of my first one and dont really want to get it replaced. So can they just replace the part at the bottom or fix that part? Thanks!
