Hi folks,
My iPhone 3G is out of warranty (I think), as I purchased it on the release day in June 2008.
Under completely normal use it has developed a very noticeable & worrying crack on the back and the headphone socket doesnt really work any more.
As far as Im concerned, a phone that costs circa £400 shouldt break when its only 18/19 months old - especially when Ive got a couple of crappy old Nokias from circa 2000 that STILL WORK PERFECTLY.
Ive read on a couple of forums that some folks are managing to get out of warranty replacements with Apple. Whats the likelihood of this happening with me, all things considered? Would I completely be wasting my time by booking a genius bar appointment?

Unless you have AppleCare, the iPhone has a one year warranty against manufacturing defects. You can try an appointment at the Genius Bar but no one here can guarantee that you will get a warranty replacement.

I suppose I know the official response, but Im looking for similar cases that users on here have had where theyve been successful (or not)...

Its really irrelevant whether someone else got lucky. Its completely up to the Genius Bar in your area.
