old voice memo important recording frozen iPhone 4

I used the old version of Voice Memo to record a significant interview, worth a couple hundred dollars for me to recover. It shows up as a 54 minute recording but doesnt play, cant be sent as email or IM or shortened in editing. In short, it is there, but not there, and very important to me. Took to Apple genius bar, but there wasnt genius enough. Downloaded new Voice Memo, but there doesnt seem any way to transfer old file to new version. Might there be someone in the forum with an idea for recovering that recording?
