Need Helping Deleting and Forwarding Messages iPhone 4

I have an iphone 4 throught AT&T.
Last week I had no problem forwarding or deleting parts of a SMS dialogue with someone else. This week it is not working.
1. If I hit edit on top right that works fine.
2. Next I hit the bubble on the left of the message I want to forward or delete. That works fine. It even puts in parenthesis the number of bubbles that have a check in them.
3. Now whether I hit the delete or forward sections on the bottom neither works. It is as if someone put these two features on lock mode.
Can someone help?
