MMS photos cant be seen by recipient iPhone 4

I can receive MMS photos just fine, and I can also send them. But when I send them, no one can ever see them because the image size is too big or something. It seems strange to me that the iPhone would send a full size image via text and not convert it down for messaging, but is there a way to change this myself so I can start sending pics via text?!

Photos and videos are reduced automatically when sent via MMS - the full resolution of a selected photo is not sent, which is not possible. SMS/MMS is a poor mans email method which includes severe restrictions - set up for dumb phones that didnt include email account access which is a high profit center and cash cow for carriers. There is no setting for this. This is done automatically. If a photo was not reduced to whatever the required size is to be sent by AT&Ts cellular network, the message would not be sent. If successfully sent, the problem lies with the recipients cell phone or carrier.
I dont MMS often, but I sent a photo via MMS yesterday and today to a close friend who has an Android phone with Verizon - no problem with her receiving the photo with each MMS.
