Managing Photos After OS4 Upgrade iPhone 3G

It has been a while now, but I upgraded my 3GS with OS4. When I did that, a new main folder for pictured was created. So now when I open Photos, I see two folders, the old and the new. But when I open the old folder I am unable to delete those photos, or even the entire folder at that. How can I get rid of this folder??
