Lost game data when getting new phone achievements etc iPhone

When I switched to an iPhone 4, and synced it, i lost ALL my game data. Ive still got the games but all game data is lost. Which was quite a lot. Is there any way to go back to this old data in any way? Is it not saved in your apple itunes account? Only locally? This is super weird. I dont want to redo all those super hard Peggle challenges!

App data is stored in only two places, on your phone and as part of the iPhone backup. Restoring from backup, followed by syncing your iTunes content to your phone would have preserved your game data. Sounds like you set your new phone up as a new phone rather than restoring from the backup of your previous phone. Is that correct, and if so, do you want to fix things? If you do, it will require wiping your current phone.

Do you know if there is there a way to merge these two?
Also, can I choose to use only data for certain apps from the backup rather than wiping the entire phone?

The restore from backup process is all or nothing. There is no way to selectively restore data. If you want to restore the game data from your previous phone, you will have to first erase your phone and delete the current backup for your new phone. In essence, youll be starting from scratch. Youll then be able to restore your backup from your old phone to your new phone.

Alright, then its just a matter of figuring out whats the most hassle, losing all data pre or post installing the new phone. Thank you Wjosten for the help!
