Ipod battery usage on IPhone 4

Wasnt sure if this was the right place to post this question but.....I have the Iphone 4 and notice that when using the Ipod, it really ***** the battery down. My concern when using the ipod while on something like a long field trip with my kids on a bus that the battery will run down fast and then I have no way to recharge so my phone is basically worthless until I get home? Its either that or dont use the ipod which also seems a waste?
Has anyone found any tricks to help with this type of thing?

To be honest these are the solutions that may or may not work.
First thing I would try is rebooting the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 15 seconds until you see the white apple logo.
If that doesnt work I would restore from backup. If that doesnt work I would restore as new. If all else fails take it to your closest apple store they may replace the phone for a working one..
