iPod App iPhone

Hi everyone!
I have one question:
Ive seen that when I launch the iPod App (on my iPhone4)
at the right of the operator logo, appears the round icon
that indicates something is loading by the internet mobile connection.
What is loading? Why? Can I disable it?
