Ipod 3 Bluetooth to car stereo. Every time it Syncs it starts ipod iPhone

I just got a new car and have synced my iphone 3 to the bluetooth car stereo. When I get in the car and start it the stereo and the phone sync up with no problem. the issue Im having is that the iphone immediately starts the ipod player and plays whatever I was listening to. This happens even if the car stereo is set to the FM radio, the ipod will begin playing. I dont want to have to take out my phone every time I get into the car and wait for it to sync via bluetooth and then pause the ipod. I listen to a lot of audio books in the car and because it does this I always loose my place and its annoying me!!! HELP!
Is there a way to change my settings on the iphone so it does not do this? I did not see anything under the settings and i hope that I am just missing something. Thanks for all the help! I appreciate it!

I have the same issue and have posted my complaint seeking help. Apparently this is a common problem. I have seen some posts by Ford owners who said they can selectively pair bluetooth connectivity and turn off the media pairing while leaving the phone paired. I have a new Subaru and Ive yet to find a way to selectively pair devices...its all or nothing.
It is indeed a bummer...it took me a while to fiqure out what was going on. Lets hope Apple addresses this in upcoming software releases.
