I saw a Kensington accessory that allows older iPhone/iPod devices charge while having other accessories connected. The device worked by have a male and a female iPhone connector. The male went to iPhone/iPod to charge it, and the female went to the secondary accessory.

Since the IOS 4 I have on my 3G, I will get my car radio (Nissan Connect > Apple Dock Connector to USB Cable / Works with iPhone/iPod), the error message ... communication problem .... Also a reset, and backup have not helped.
