iphone xxx could not be updated because firmware file was corrupt

Hi all,
I have tried to update my iPhone 4 to 2.4 in iTunes.
Itunes is downloading the new FW and starting to extract the FW... Then it exits the update/install with the prompt The iphone xxx could not be updated because the firmware file was corrupt!
I have tried to delete the file in AppDataRoamingApple ComputeriTunesiPhone Software Updates and I have tried reinstaling iTunes but I get the same error everytime I try to update to 4.2!!!
