iPhone repair replacement

Recently, my iPhone 3G wont let people on another phone hear me if I use the normal mic or the headphones mic. It does, however, work on speakerphone. I have tried restarting it and everything else listed on the support page. Is this covered in the standard warranty? I also understand to get a fix or replacement, that you have to take the phone to an Apple store, correct?

If you have tried everything listed on the support page, if you are in the U.S. you can call AppleCare at (800) 694-7466 to handle everything over the phone, or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
