Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty repair price, which pays for an exchange at a discounted price off the full retail/non-subsidized carrier price for the iPhone. The cost in the U.S. is $199 plus applicable sales price and doesnt require signing a new contract with AT&T. The same is available in Canada.
Or you can contact a 3rd party repair service to get a quote for the repair with the price quoted paying for what is replaced/repaired only. Apples price pays for an exchange for the same model, which includes a 90 day warranty.
