iPhone and iPod Apps

Ive had an iPod for a while now, but Ive been with Verizon and Im now getting a new iPhone. I just wanted to make sure that my apps will be able to operate on both the iPod and the iPhone...Basically Im worried that Apple will consider this a duplication of apps being that theyre with two devices. I really dont want to have only one device that can operate the apps...anyone with an answer?

If you have an iPod Touch, those Apps will work on the iPhone as long as you use the same iTunes account.

I understand my iTouch apps will work on my iPhone 4 and they did transfer over. What didnt transfer is the data. Example, I have reached different levels of play in some of the games I have. The games transferred to the iPhone minus my progress. I have to start from the beginning on the iPhone.
Is there a way to transfer my progress too?
