iPhone 4 stuck on 3G when at home where it should use WiFi

Hey, new iPhone 4 owner here... I started having a problem with my iPhone 4 yesterday - when I came home after using the 3G network while I was out, it didnt switch back to my WiFi. And now today is it happening again!
Yesterday the only thing that solved it was turning the phone off and on - but surely there is a better way? Or is this a bug others have experienced?
I even went through the task manager and closed all running apps, thinking that an open connection was keeping the 3G alive. But it made no difference.
Can anyone help?

Reset your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release(ignore the slide to power off).

As I wrote in my 1st post, I already did less than than (just plain turn off and the on again) to fix it.
BUT... I shouldnt have to do that. Thats why Im asking if there are other workarounds - or if this is a common problem.

My phone doesnt do this. If it keeps happening even after resetting your phone etc i would book in to see some Apple dudes

Resetting & turning your phone on/off are completely different things. If you dont want to follow standard troubleshooting steps, then solve the problem yourself. Good luck.

Not a common problem. First go to Settings > Wifi and make sure Ask to Join Networks is ON.
If that isnt the fix try the reset as described above. Do that once and you may not have to turn it off and back on every time.
