Iphone 4 not able to hang up phone

Hello
I have noticed recently that when I try to hang up my phone after a call it wont let me. The end icon as I touch it will go in as if I am ending the phone call but it just doesnt hang up which has led to a very awkward explanation why i am still on the phone to some people :P If they hang up then the call ends but often I cant end it.
Anybody having the same issue?

Yes, it happens occassionaly. A lot more on my older 3G phone with latest update and very less frequency on iPhone 4.
One thing i observed, that when I try to hang up the call and if the cellular coverage bar changes, it hangs the phone.
and only reading your post, i realized that the caller on the other side can still listen to me as the call was active,
Ummmmmm..makes me wonder, why one of my known is staying away from me :-
