Iphone 4 as audio interface

I was thinking about this the other day, and is there any barrier for the iphone to keep it from being a true audio interface?
All it would need to be able to do is send audio as it was being recorded over the USB connection to a computer. Using devices such as iRig could provide the line in.
Would it be possible to one day record music live in Logic on a computer, just using your iPhone as the interface?

usb is a universal digital serial bus
it dont carry audio it carry digital data
so a driver on the computer is required to interp
the audio send as digital serial stream and make it back into a
audio source
