Got an urgent question. My husband is currently working abroad and has no roaming package. Hes turned his roaming off but this evening (after being there all week) all of a sudden his emails & facebook have updated & he has the internet tethering icon spinning round. He has tried to turn internet tethering off but it wont let him. He said there is Wi-Fi in the hotel but not in his room & he hasnt been asked to choose a network. He has an Iphone 4. Does anyone know if hell get charged for what has already downloaded & how he can tuen the internet tethering off?

2011-02-24 15:25:02 Does he have a Tethering package and he previously set up Tethering with his iPhone? If not, nothing to worry about there.
Is Cellular Data turned off in addition to Data Roaming?

He also said that cellular data is still on. He travels a lot & has never had to turn cellular data off.

Without a tethering package and having never set this up on his iPhone, this was not caused by tethering and has norhing to do with tethering which would require data roaming being turned on when roaming internationally which is turned off.
It doesnt matter how often he travels and what he has never done before when doing so. Data Roaming is turned off by default and having Cellular Data turned off as well when traveling internationally ensures no data access whatsoever via a cellular network.
