I keep accidentally deleting valuable mail on iPhone

Tonight was the last straw. I accidentally deleted an email with valuable dental records!
My problem is that on the iPhone the trash button is right in the center on the bottom of the email window. If I accidentally touch it while examining records on my phone the whole email is erased and since I have mobile me I lose it on my computer as well as my laptop and iPad.
There is never a prompt Are you sure you want to delete this? so you can recover.
Does anyone know a setting I can change to move the location of the trash can or to have the phone ask me if I really want to delete the email?
