Hotmail no longer working had weird certifcate error. iPhone

I have iPhone 3GS
Problem: Hotmail no longer working/connecting via exchange(activesync) setup.
What happen: well yesterday my hotmail was working perfectly fine. Out of nowhere while my phone was locked, something popped up that i never saw before. (it also showed up on my dads phone which is the exact same phone). It showed the following.

I hit more details but there was a TON of settings and stuff that I did not know about so I exited that. Instead I hit Cancel on the top left. There was also accept on to top right of the screen but since it said it expired on feb 19, i thought I should cancel and it would give me a new updated certificate.
It seemed to still work okay after that till I had to re-add my hotmail account on my phone then it simply wouldnt work anymore. It keeps saying cannot get mail. the connection to the server failed.
I tried to reset network settings already and that didnt help. Im thinking it has to do with the weird GTE globalroot thing.
Any suggestions to fix this problem? My gmail (via exchange) works fine but hotmail is giving me a problem. this problem is driving me crazy.
