GPSMap application works with OS Maps iPhone

I am an iPhone newbie and wanting to know if there is an app that will let me use the iphone to view a map/trace of where we are trecking around the lakedistrict in UK next month? I guess the map has to be loaded on the iphone somehow rather than relying on a connection back to o2? If no detailed map available, is there anything that will make it look and behave like a garmin or similar?

You can check the app store to see if there is something that meets your needs.

Thanks Tamara but I guess I am looking for a little local knowledge here. OS Stands for Ordinance Survey and is lowest level of granularity you can get over here in the UK.
