Google Maps bug after update iPhone 4

After the most recent update to my iphone, the stock Google Maps app is almost unusable. doing either a 2 finger zoom-in or just simply scrolling across the map sets off any number of buttons, including switching from directions to search, or switching from driving to bus or walking. Of course when it switches to walking or bus, the map shrinks to show the whole route and youd have to zoom back in to get to where you were, making navigating near impossible.
Anyone else?

I am having a similar issue. It actually locks up on me where none of the buttons actually work. The app crashes and I have to select it again.
Google Maps has become almost unusable for me after the 4.2.1 update

Are you guys on iPhone 4s? I am using Maps in iPhone 4 after 4.2.1 update without any problems.
What happens if you remove the saved state by deleting the app icon from the multitasking bar? From Home screen or another app, double-tap home button to show multitasking bar, press and hold Maps icon until it jiggles, press the Delete icon. Reload Maps app.
