Find my Iphone app-Ipod stolen. How i find my ipod

I have a 4th gen ipod that was stolen at school and it has the find my iphone app on it and usually when people steal ipods at my school they delete all the data on it, is it possible for them to delete the app without having to like enter some password or something.
-I didnt have a passcode to unlock the ipod

If you did not passcode protect it, then they can turn off the feature or restore the ipod and find my iphone will not work.
They can also remove the SIM.

They can disable the feature. Yes. If you did not passcode protect it.

sorry im just tryin to be as sure as i can about this, but i had the app hidden in a folder where nobody would look, but if the person hit the clear memory button under setting or somthing like that it would all disappear and then it would be impossible to find the ipod again?- with mobile me or like is there still a way to track the serial number?

They can remove the SIM card or restore the iphone, or turn off the feature and you will not be able to find it.
