Many people seem to be having issues with their home buttons or specific parts of their keyboards. For myself, my entire iPhone 4 keyboard stops registering from time to time. The keyboard works for safari and any downloaded apps, but when I type in system apps like mail and phone contacts, the keys show that they are being pressed but letters wont appear. I have tried soft and hard resetting it when this issue arises and nothing seems to help. After awhile the keyboard starts working for these apps again.
What steps should I take to get my iPhone back to normal?

What steps should I take to get my iPhone back to normal?
Standard iPhone troubleshooting steps, in the order specified:
1. Power the phone off, then back on.
2. Reset.
3. Restore from backup.
4. Restore as a new device.
If no change after doing the above, make an appointment at an Apple store. Backup your phone before you go in case the geniuses replace it.
