Deleting multiple messages at once iPhone 4

Hi,
How do you delete multiple messages at one go ?
I can delete them one by one (emails or texts) but clicking the waste bin, but I only seem to be able to do this individually.
MBP, iMac i3, MacMini, MacBook, iPad, iPhone, iPod Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Howdy,
You can delete multiple emails or texts by tapping the Edit button in the top right corner of the inbox or conversation.
You can also swipe your finger across emails, like striking them out, to delete them.

So, if there are 150 emails in there, you have to press edit (or swipe) and select them (or delete them) one by one ?
There is no select all ?
