Deleting mail on Iphone and I pad.

Is it possible to delete all mail in I phone and I pad with one stroke the first time. I now delete eash individual item which then goes to trash and only then can I delete all with one keystroke.
Iphone4 and first generation Ipad iOS 4

currently there is no batch delete in any other place but the trash, but this has been requested many times, so it might make it to a future software update. When, no one knows

Theres a workaround. If you have a POP3 account you can turn the account off in Settings, Open mail, the turn the account back on. A but kludgy.
