Best Way to Clean Dock Connector iPhone

I havent had any major issues yet, but I am just wondering about the best way to clean inside the dock connector. Dust and lint do tend to collect inside there. I know I can used compressed air, but any other recommendations? Ive seen some people suggest rubbing alcohol, but I think that might be somewhat hazardous. If you have tried something, and it worked well, please advise. Thanks!!
