Audio Issues in Facetime Video Recording iPhone 4

Im having some major mic issues when using FaceTime or recording video on the iPhone 4. The sound is mainly static - you can just about hear other sounds, but its very quiet and washed out by the static. The mic audio on calls, voice notes is fine - its just on FaceTime and video recording.
Apple support have no idea (the agent I spoke to seemed to think it was related to my network provider and text messaging, which makes no sense whatsoever).
Anyone else had this problem? Any fixes out there?

1) Press and Hold the Home and Wake Sleep buttons until the Apple Logo appears.
2) If that doesnt work, try a reset, To reset go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset.
3) If neither of the above work, you can try a restore from itunes.
If that doesnt work, take it to an apple store for the expert.

Having the same issue, and I can confirm the problems with the same apps: Facetime and Video Recording.

I can report Im having these issues as well, even after a restore as a new device. Its extra strange as my voice memo app works beautifully, doesnt this app really on the same HW?

Yep, exact same issue. Ive tried it all too.
I get no audio on FaceTime or video recording. I even did a clean install and that didnt work. I messed around with a bunch of setting and everything I could think of. Its just weird cause the mic works-just not in video recording or FaceTime.

I would bet if you plugged in your headphones...you would get sound.....I have the same exact problem as those here and I am currently on hold with support. In the meantime I just tried the headphones and was able to record audio/video and do facetime calls. May be a decent work around until you can get your phone replaced.
