3G Internet problems since upgrading to 4.1 firmware on 3gs iPhone 3G

I upgraded my 3GS phone in the morning to firmware 4.1 from 4.0.1 .... since Ive upgraded the 3G sign appears at the normal place on the screen but I am getting no internet connection at all from it (works on wifi but not on 3G/edge)... Ive even restored my phone, reset it, turned it on and off, checked all the cellular data network settings are normal but still nothing ....
im really getting dissapointed with apple now, when i 1st got my iphone 3gs for £450!!!! it was on 3.1.2 and i loved it had no problems at all, then the IOS 4.0 came out and the phone started crashing every cuple of weeks (which was fixed with a little reset) and battery life went abit worse but i still loved the phone.... now my frekin internet isnt working on 3G and getting really put off buying any more apple phones from now on!!! not happy at all
