I just installed Windows 7 x64 this weekend. iTunes is working great. iTunes and the iPhone on 3.0.0 version were talking to each other just fine. So I decided it was safe to update to 3.0.1 because I was hoping it would fix the major lag/speed issue introduced in 3.0, not to mention the text message vulnerability. The iPhone works fine, and iTunes still works fine.
However...
When I attach the iPhone to the computer now iTunes gives a message occasionally how it detects an iPhone but cannot attach to it. I have to detach and reattach the iPhone and itll eventually randomly decide hey I think I can read this now.

Same problem here... Windows 7 (x64) and iTunes 8.2.1.6. My firmware is still 3.0 though, and Im having issues syncing which werent happing before (~2 weeks ago).
Sometimes just wont sync (iTunes freezes, never happened before) and sometimes syncs after a long wait.
Checked task manager, iTunes listed as not responding, memory allocation etc seem normal so its not a memory leak or anything. Strange.

Hi,
What is the exact message you see in iTunes?
Make sure are directly connecting the iPhone to a high-speed USB2 port on the PC, with the cable that was included. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286 provides other general USB troubleshooting tips.
